Our Story

A family business built on solid-fuel experience, practical knowledge and four decades of craftsmanship.

De La Haye Ltd is a family-run business with its roots firmly established in the Channel Islands.

Our story began in 1985 on the island of Guernsey, when our founder, having returned home following his service in the military, developed a keen interest in solid-fuel heating and the technology behind it.

At the time, solid-fuel heating was very different from the modern wood-burning and multi-fuel appliances we work with today. Our early experience was built around traditional heating systems and appliances, including Parkray and Trianco back boilers, gaining hands-on knowledge of the appliances, chimneys, flues and heating systems that kept homes warm for generations.

What began as an interest in solid-fuel heating gradually developed into a small family business, built through practical experience, word of mouth and a commitment to doing things properly.

Over the years, the technology has changed considerably. Traditional solid-fuel appliances have given way to highly engineered modern wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves, while chimney and flue systems have evolved alongside them. What hasn’t changed is the importance of understanding how the whole system works.

Today, De La Haye Ltd specialises in the installation of wood-burning and multi-fuel appliances, stainless-steel twin-wall insulated flue systems, flexible flue lining systems, and CCTV and aerial chimney surveys.

Our experience now spans more than four decades, combining the practical knowledge gained from traditional solid-fuel heating with modern installation standards, HETAS certification and current industry requirements.

From Guernsey to Dorset

Although Guernsey remains the home of De La Haye Ltd and an important part of our history, the business is now beginning a new chapter.

With the next generation of the family now based in Dorset, we are gradually extending our work into Dorset and the surrounding areas, bringing the same family-business approach and specialist solid-fuel experience to a new part of the country.

The business may be spreading its wings, but the principle remains the same:

Do the job properly.
Understand the system.
Treat every property as if it were your own.

From the traditional back boilers and solid-fuel systems of the 1980s to today’s modern, efficient appliances and advanced chimney surveying technology, De La Haye Ltd continues to build on the knowledge passed down through the family.
